I created this mural template with a grid over a line drawing of his face to create all kinds of possibilities to honor this amazing artist.
PREP: Print Chuck Close template with laser printer. Trim pages to printed edge with paper cutter. Write assigned grid number on back as the front number will get colored over. Print color guide for students to share.
1. Each student gets a page and oil pastels. They refer to the color guide, or just color randomly, depending on what outcome is desired.
ASSEMBLY: The teacher lines up the pages according to the grid number, and tapes them together with masking tape. Another option is gluing the pages to a large sheet of butcher paper. The mural will measure 36″ x 48″ when complete.
