If you are a fan of grown up art journals, then this project might be for you. I learned long ago that layering doesn’t come naturally to children, but if you keep it simple, they can start to get the idea and add some creativity to their writing.
1. I started by writing a little about the day in very spaced out lines with a black pen. I continued until the background was filled up.
2. I used a pencil to lightly draw a large block number (my writing was about my son turning 13).
3. I painted the background with watercolors and left the inside of the letters empty. Encourage using lots of water with the paint so that it keeps it’s transparent quality.
