Here’s an adorable Gingerbread Matchbox made yesterday by Nya, a fifth-grader. I showed students how to draw a simple droopy roof line and some candy windows, but Nya took the idea to whole new level.
• White card stock paper
• Glue stick
• Scotch tape
• Stabilo markers
PREP: Print a box, sleeve and tray for each student. I folded the boxes for each as I had many too young for this origami step.
1. Students drew their house on the flattened sleeve in pencil, and then colored with markers.
2. The trays, or inserts were drawn and colored next.
3. The box is assembled with a folded insert, and folded and taped sleeve.
