A drawing of a Baby Chick, made with the help of an easy step by step tutorial.

If you are looking for a fun springtime project, then learning how to draw a baby chick is a fun project for students of all ages. The cute faces and bright yellow color always makes for a great combination. If you have really young students, I recommend finding some kind of circle to trace for the head. A bowl, roll of masking tape, anything to get it round and centered on the paper. Circles are some of the hardest shapes to first draw, and students often spend so much time trying to make them look “right” that they miss time to finish their drawing.

Materials

  • Drawing Paper. This is the good stuff you can buy in bulk for a good price.
  • Pencils. I like how this brand always makes nice dark lines.
  • Black Marker. A permanent marker will give you a dark black color.
  • Crayons. The larger packs are nice for more color choices.
