Cupcake 700This subject matter is pretty simple, but a few extra touches can make it look rather sophisticated.

1. Draw the cupcake bottom that fills the bottom half of a sheet of watercolor paper. Draw the cherry where you would like it to sit, and add the frosting lines on either side.
2. Trace all the lines with a black Sharpie marker.
3. Draw sprinkles with different colored crayons. Add the cupcake wrapper lines with a crayon. Colors that will contrast with your planned paint color work best. (Note: I wish I made mine white or yellow.)
4. Paint all with liquid watercolors. For the cherry, leave a little white spot for a reflection.

As a parent, I think this is a great Art project for kids at school who are not allowed to bring cupcakes or cake to school on their Birthdays due to peanut allergies in schools. Instead kids can do Birthday cupcake artwork like this. Wonderful!
