Tissu Heart DiagramHere’s my solution this year for student’s Mother Day gift. It’s revisiting an old tissue paper technique that’s been around forever, and can really look nice if done well.

PREP: I used our school’s die cut to make a heart for each student. I actually switched to heavy watercolor paper when my chipboard ran out. Also cut LOTS of 1″ tissue squares.

1. Students color the heart with a marker to help fill in the background.

2. Students rub a glue stick on the heart. They place a 1″ square tissue over the eraser end of a pencil and roll with fingers. The end is placed on the glue on the heart.

3. Repeat until the heart is filled. Finish with a pretty satin ribbon, if possible.
