Cardboard Crowns

cardboard craft projectsThis is what my students made today in their after school Cardboard Craft class. Who knew that plastic rhinestones and cardboard could look so cute?
  1. PREP: Cut a corrugated cardboard strip that is 3″ tall by the width of the crafter’s head, plus 2″ or so.
  2. While the strip is flat, students cut triangles from extra cardboard and glued them to one side of the band. I recommend that the raised side is the outside of the crown, and the flat is the inside.
  3. The jewels were glued to the cardboard with Aleene’s Tacky Glue, which helped set the shapes in just about 10 minutes or so.
  4. The crowns were sized one last time and stapled in place.
