If you combine the idea of rings of color with a tree, you get a Kandinsky tree collage. Try to have the students make as much variation as possible – some thin, thick, large, small.

Warm colored card stock paper, for the leaves
Cool card stock paper, for the ground and sky
Black card stock paper, for the trunk
• Scissors
• Glue stick

1. A green grass shape is cut and glued to a blue background.

2. A tree trunk is drawn and cut from a sheet of black paper and glued down.

3. Leaves are made by cutting and gluing circles to larger pieces of paper, and trimming as shown.

4. Add your cut out circles to the tree. They can be attached to a branch or just float in the sky too. This is an abstract tree after all so have fun!
