magritte for kids
  1. PREP: Cut 9″ x 12″ in half to make the 6″ x 9″ format used for my art journal projects.
  2. Students look for large colorful images that appeal to them in magazines. A CD is used to trace a circle around the image.
  3. The circle is cut out with a scissors. Older students (grade 4 and 5?) may trim a bit off the top and bottom to show a more realistic eye shape.
  4. The “eye” is glued to the center of the journal page.
  5. The eyelid is drawn around the circle. The lines are traced with a black marker and crayons are used to color and shade as realistic eye as possible.
