Wayne Thiebaud is an American artist best known for his paintings of cakes in light pastel shades.
I exaggerated the colors and frostings a bit in this homage, and hope it adds for some extra fun.
PREP: Print Theibaud template on laser print. Trim to printed edge with paper cutter. Write assigned grid number on back as the front number will get colored over. Print color guide for students to share.
1. Each student gets a page and colors with oil pastels. They refer to the color guide, or just color randomly, depending on what outcome is desired.
ASSEMBLY: The teacher lines up the pages according to the grid number, and tapes them together with masking tape. Another option is gluing the pages to a large sheet of butcher paper. The mural will measure 56″ x 38″ when complete.
