About this Art Materials List
If you are looking for some good school art supplies advice, then getting it from an art teacher who spent many years in the classroom, is a good place to start. I have seen how all these products work in the hands of actual students, and they did their job well!
For about 15 years, I taught art to kindergarten through 5th graders in a public school, so I needed to stretch my art budget as much as possible. Sometimes the standard school supply, like construction paper, worked fine, and sometimes I found it worthwhile to use a little of my budget to get things that were a bit better, like from Michael’s or Jo-Ann Crafts.
This collection made in the form of an art supplies checklist, which you can download below, and includes the top 13 items that I would at least want on hand when any school year started.
The list covers …
Paper: drawing paper, watercolor, and colored card stock
Coloring: Crayons, colored pencils, oil pastels (for K-1) and soft pastels (2-5), water based markers, metallic markers, Sharpie ultra fine and Sharpie fine tip
Painting: Liquid watercolor paint, brush (my favorite shaped one!)
Misc: Glue sticks, scissors
Good news! These items can now all be found on my Amazon Shop! Check it out with the button link below!
