This tutorial will show fans of Dr. Seuss how to draw Thing One and Thing Two, which are dwarf-like creatures with messy blue hair, white skin and red body suits from Dr. Seuss’ popular book, The Cat in the Hat.

Materials

  • Drawing Paper. This is the good stuff you can buy in bulk for a good price.
  • Pencils. I like how this brand always makes nice dark lines.
  • Black Marker. A permanent marker will give you a dark black color.
  • Crayons. The larger packs are nice for more color choices.

Directions

Time needed: 45 minutes

Step by Step Directions to Draw Thing One and Thing Two

  1. Start Thing One with the head shape.

  2. Add the eyes, nose and mouth inside.

  3. Draw the collar and body shape below.

  4. Add the arms, legs and wild head of hair.

  5. Start Thing Two with the same head. You can make the eyes and mouth a little different.

  6. Add the collar and body shape below. Be sure to add the round sign and name on both figures.

  7. Draw two arms and the two legs.

  8. Finish with a wild head of hair.

  9. Trace with a marker and color.
